Disaster

72 Hour Response Times

When disaster strikes, timely response is critical. Whether it be placing tarps or shrink-wrapping open buildings, the quicker the property can be "weathered in" the better. Buildings left open to the elements are subject to further damage from continuing weather events and are prime targets for bad actors. Our disaster response teams can be on-site, in all of our Service Areas, within 72 hour of dispatch (and often much sooner) for properties enrolled in our First Response Program.

Moreover, most property & casualty insurance policies require policyholders to take reasonable action to limit the damage caused by a covered peril. Failure to act timely may result in limited or denied coverage, leaving you and your stakeholders out to dry in the event of a large loss.

Shrink Wrap

Shrink Wrap

Upon site arrival, JRS crews can apply tarps or even shrink wrap entire building where storm damage has left the structure open to the elements. Shrink wrapping a building can create a weather-proof barrier that can last months while your property claim is fully assessed, ensuring that future damage is mitigated and that evidence is left undisturbed so that you can be fully indemnified for the loss.

Content Displacement

When a loss leaves the building exposed to external elements and risk, the need to protect the property inside the building becomes paramount. When location control or site security is not enough, our teams can relocate physical assets to on or off-site, temporary storage locations while mitigation and restoration work gets completed.

Comprehensive Guide to Commercial Roofing Disaster Response Plans

Disasters can strike at any time, and commercial properties are particularly vulnerable to the devastating effects of severe weather events, such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and hailstorms. A well-prepared disaster response plan for commercial roofing is essential to minimize damage, ensure safety, and expedite recovery. This guide will walk you through the key components of an effective disaster response plan for commercial roofing systems.

The Importance of a Disaster Response Plan

  1. Minimizes Damage: A proactive disaster response plan helps to minimize damage by ensuring that all necessary precautions are taken before, during, and after a disaster.
  2. Ensures Safety: The safety of building occupants is paramount. A well-defined plan includes safety protocols to protect everyone in the building.
  3. Reduces Downtime: Quick and efficient response to roofing emergencies can significantly reduce downtime, allowing businesses to resume operations as soon as possible.
  4. Compliance with Regulations: Having a disaster response plan ensures compliance with safety regulations and codes, which can prevent legal issues and coverage denials.

Key Components of a Disaster Response Plan

  1. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks specific to your location and building. This includes understanding the types of severe weather events that are most likely to occur and their potential impact on your roofing system.
  2. Communication Protocols: Establish clear communication protocols to ensure that all relevant parties are informed promptly. Designate a central point of contact responsible for disseminating information and coordinating the response.
  3. Designate Responsible Personnel: JRS assigns specific roles and responsibilities to team members. This includes identifying who will be responsible for inspecting the roof, coordinating repairs, and communicating with stakeholders.
  4. Emergency Supplies and Equipment: JRS has ample inventory of the necessary supplies and equipment on hand to respond to a disaster. This includes tarps, tools, safety gear, and materials for temporary repairs.
  5. Training and Drills: JRS regularly trains its staff on the disaster response plans and conducts drills to ensure readiness. This helps to identify any gaps in the plan and ensures that everyone knows their role.
